Planning Posts

Step 1 Planning a social media post is a lot harder than it seems. The first thing I do when I sit down to create a social media strategy is to understand the company’s posting history. Creating a benchmark is one of the most helpful things when using social media. Insights is one of my favorite tools for understanding which posts had the most customer engagement and how I can grow off of that. This also helps in understanding the company’s target audiences and the ways that I can continue to reach them effectively. Step 2 The next task is to decide what different types of content I want to post. Choosing whether to post pictures, videos, graphics, gifs, or text is one of my biggest struggles throughout the process. Step 3 Next, think of different post ideas that would captivate your target audience. One of my most favorite ways to get inspiration for social media posts is on Pinterest. "Pinterest allows me to save any posts that I find helpful in creating a post to the same place". There are so many different ways that convey your companies message to its audience through essential idea planning. Social media content, including company events, awards, a day in the life of an employee, and travel are all my favorite types of posts. In most cases, I strive to stick to the 80-20 rule, which is "80% of the time, I post content that is informational while the other 20% of the time, I post content that is promoting the companies products". Over-posting of products can cause your followers to become overwhelmed and stressed, so keep it simple. Letting your followers get to know your company personally is key to achieving the highest customer satisfaction rates. Step 4 The final step is to create a social media content calendar, "allowing me to plan out when I am going to post". I begin by putting holidays on the calendar and possible free workdays. Then, I start to add important company events that followers might find interesting or inspirational. Next, I add all of my different social media posts ideas into the calendar. Finally, I put the specifics of the posts onto the schedule, including who is going to create the post and the best time to post it. Step 5 The only thing left to do is post your planned content to as many social media platforms as possible.
