Leveling Up in the Family Business

Growing up in a local family business, I always took notice of publications and social media, specifically the company’s various types and models. For years, I have dreamed of earning my spot at Immy, the company that my grandfather started in 1979. After watching my father and uncle expand the business to depths that were initially unimaginable, I knew I wanted to be a part of the legacy. After spending what I would consider my whole life at the office, I was asked to assist in running the company’s social media.

While the majority of publications that come my way are of a lighter sense, Immy uses its publications to convey different aspects of the medical industry. Immy is a company that creates and sells “diagnostic tests for infectious diseases” around the world. Since the start of the pandemic, Immy has began holding COVID-19 testing sites, which entails a different kinds of publication than most. The marketing/PR team and I quickly began creating different types of graphics advertising our free COVID-19 testing sites. One of the most important elements was making sure that it was appealing to the eye.

When I was first asked to be a part of the family business, I was very hesitant to the idea of completely operating and running a business social media platforms, but after I did further research, I felt that I was fully equipped for the job. After completing my first graphic for the COVID-19 testing pods, I was very impressed with my work but understood that there was still room for improvement. After continually putting forth my full effort into creating the best COVID-19 graphics, I am very proud of the work that I have created and feel that it only continues to get better.
